Acoustic Analysis
As results of acoustic simulation, the location of pulsation control device has to be determined. For example, Pulsation dampener and surge volume have to be located as per those sound speed and acoustic wave length of those fluid as well as acoustic resonance. The best way is to install them around nozzle location of reciprocating pump as close as possible.
Acoustic Resonance, API 674
Below figures show the efficiency for pulsation control efficiency by pulsation dampener application as results of acoustic resonance & mechanical resonance. As results of them, the pulsation amplitude is significantly improved and reduced with application of pulsation dampener.
